Philosophy

My approach to massage is simple: each time you visit, I assess then treat. To accomplish this, I always:

  1. Listen to you
  2. Observe your posture and body language
  3. Let my experience and my hands tell me where I can help
  4. Draw on my extensive training to provide the most effective treatment possible

If you want to find out more about what makes me tick, check out my blog.

Training

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and spending several years as a field biologist, I moved on to obtain my Massage Therapy Diploma from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Cambridge, where I graduated with honours in 2009.

I have additional training in sport massage, as well as:

  • Myofacial Release from the Jennings Institute — a technique that can reduce discomfort, improve posture, and provide more lasting benefits from massage.
  • Cranio-sacral Therapy (CST) from the Upledger Institute — a gentle technique used to release restrictions in the system of tissues and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the central nervous system to releave headaches, chronic neck and back pain.

Experience

I have been providing registered massage therapy treatments in the Kitchener-Waterloo area since 2009. I am currently in private practice at Come Alive Fitness in Waterloo.

Prior to my current location, I provided RMT treatments at both the University Plaza and RIM Park Waterloo Sports Medicine Centres, where I enjoyed treating a variety of athletic and over-use injuries.

I am registered and in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) regulatory body. I am also a proud member of the Registered Massage Therapist Association of Ontario (RMTAO)—the RMT professional association.
